About Me

Thank you for taking time to look at my work! I’m a classic rock music fan, a coffee addict, a foodie, and a traveler. I am also an educator, speaker, and consultant.

I’ve been fascinated by math from a young age. The ability to work with numbers is one of the most useful and essential skills one can develop in school and college. I also believe that mathematical sciences can be fun and exciting to learn if you teach them the right way.

I’ve been a school teacher for over ten years. During that time, I’ve developed different teaching approaches, created an online course, and helped hundreds of students to fall in love with mathematical sciences. I believe that learning should not be a repeatable or tedium. It should evoke passion and give you another viable reason to wake up in the mornings no matter how young or old.

Testimonials

Amanda Peterson

“Professor Lesley is one of my favorite university teachers. He is really passionate about his subject and knows how to make the students passionate about math as well. Thank you for your hard work!”

Jeff Gordon

“If it weren't for professor Lesley, I probably wouldn't have this job now. He taught me not to be afraid of numbers and equations, and use them for my profit. I still follow his tips in my personal and business life.”

Teaching through Values

Education is my chosen career path, and I believe it’s a great privilege. I feel so grateful for the ability to work with students and to teach the next generation of thought and practice leaders. I also work with teachers, helping them build new education strategies. In doing so, I know that my work will have an impact on so many college students, even the ones I don’t teach personally.

I believe in personalized learning. I also think there are no dull subjects. Therefore, I do my best to make the learning process interesting for everyone, to encourage exploration and research, and to teach students to apply this knowledge not only in college but also in business and everyday life.

The Miller Writing Center is a part of Auburn’s Office of University Writing’s initiative. It is focused on increasing the quality of students’ writing. To achieve that, MWC tutors don’t simply edit the papers, but interact with students one-on-one to guide them.

Teaching College: Book Review

Though I prefer to develop my own teaching strategies instead of using someone else's, I find it essential to keep in touch with the latest education tendencies. Reading this book for me was a way to do so. I hope this review will be helpful for those who need...

Mathematics in Our Lives

Some people view math as science only. I see math as a tool that could be studied not for academic reasons only, but also could be used to improve our lives. In this presentation, I want to focus on the latter, offering a couple of examples and tips from real life.
